Who pays the deposit insurance?
Banks pay Fogafín for the deposit insurance.
These registered institutions pay 0.3% per year of the of the liabilities covered.
Premiums are paid quarterly in arrears, and calculated based on the simple average of closing figures on the balance sheet for the months comprising the calendar quarter covered by the payment. A calendar quarter ends in March, June, September or December each year. The dates for payment to Fogafín fall on the last three working days of each quarter in arrears.
